Penske Sends Top Advisers To Sydney To Revolutionize V8 Supercars

V8 Supercars are ripe for a takeover by Penske or NASCAR

Roger Penske "has jetted his most senior racing advisers" — a crack team of engineers, mechanics and officials — into Sydney's Olympic Park "as he prepares to invade V8 Supercars," according to Nick Walshaw of the Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH.

In a "huge shake-up for Australian motorsport," it was revealed the "superstar" Penske Racing outfit who, starting with this weekend’s Sydney 500, "plan to completely revolutionize the sport." Made up of American specialists from both Penske NASCAR and IndyCar teams, the group "also boasts five key crew members who have been charged with running the new franchise Down Under."

Dick Johnson Racing team "recently became Penske material, with one of the most powerful racing figures on the planet" — with a net worth of A$1.6B ($1.3B) — officially joining Supercars next year by taking a 51% ownership in the Australian outfit. Heading the Penske outfit is Jeff Swartwought, an American team manager who previously established the company's dominant Porsche sports car racing team.
