BBC announces live F1 race coverage
2011 was the last season the BBC carried exclusive live coverage of F1 before it entered in to a new rights deal with Sky Sports. Since then half of the races have been available on free-to-air television, and ahead of the 2015 season the BBC has confirmed another 10 which it will broadcast live in the coming year starting with the Malaysian Grand Prix.
List of races to be shown live on the BBC:
March 29 – Malaysian Grand Prix
April 19 – Bahrain Grand Prix
June 7 – Canadian Grand Prix
July 5 – British Grand Prix
July 26 – Hungarian Grand Prix
August 23 – Belgian Grand Prix
September 27 – Japanese Grand Prix
October 11 – Russian Grand Prix
November 15 – Brazilian Grand Prix
November 29 – Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
"Like all F1 fans, we can't wait for the 2015 season," the BBC's head of F1 Ben Gallop said. "With Lewis Hamilton as world champion, F1 in Britain is in a great position and we're delighted with our race package."
All 20 races will again be available to watch live on Sky Sports, with the BBC carrying highlights of the 10 grands prix for which it doesn't have live coverage.
"All eyes are on world champion Lewis Hamilton and Sky Sports F1 will be the only place to follow every race of his title defense," Sky Sports F1 executive producer Martin Turner said. "There are so many exciting story lines next season and we'll cover every twist and turn from Australia to Abu Dhabi."
