Newey: Vettel ‘will bring things to Ferrari we rather he didn’t’

Adrian Newey admits four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will take Red Bull secrets with him having moved to Ferrari ahead of the 2015 season.

Vettel has left the team with which he won all four of his drivers' championships to replace Fernando Alonso at Ferrari, with the latter moving to McLaren. Newey says he understands the motivation behind Vettel's switch – despite Red Bull being the only team other than Mercedes to win a race in 2014 – but is also aware that Vettel's level of intelligence will see him able to transfer knowledge from one team to the other.

"He wants to stretch his wings and discover other things," Newey told Sky Sports. "It's a natural curiosity in life to find out how you can perform in different environments. I can understand why he has moved.

"He's a very bright guy and unfortunately I am sure he will bring things to Ferrari that we rather he didn't, but we understand."

Red Bull prevented Vettel from driving for Ferrari at the Abu Dhabi test at the end of last season as he would have been able to compare the two cars on the same track just two days apart. crash.net
