Vergne spends first day in Ferrari simulator

Vergne at Ferrari

Recently-signed Ferrari test driver Jean-Eric Vergne has officially started work at the team.

The Frenchman, who lost his Toro Rosso race seat at the end of last season, has been given a simulator-based test role by the manufacturer.

He spent Tuesday at the outfit's Maranello factory, meeting management and engineers, before getting some virtual mileage under his belt.

"The first day as a Ferrari man is really something special," Vergne told the official Ferrari website.

"But already last night, I took a short trip around Maranello and I realized that this is a city that lives and breathes Ferrari.

"This year, I will be doing a lot of work in the simulator and this first introduction to it was very useful."
