As you've been reading here on AutoRacing1, 2014 U.S. F2000 champion Florian Latorre will move to Pro Mazda and continue as a part of Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. Official announcement below.

Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing is pleased to announce that Florian Latorre will drive for the team in the 2015 Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. Latorre will drive the No.3 MazdaMotorsports.com Pro Mazda.

Latorre has moved up the Mazda Road to Indy ladder with the team after claiming the 2014 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda. The young Frenchman picked up three wins and 10 poles on his way to the championship.

"I signed with Cape Motorsports because this is a team with whom I had a great year with in USF2000," Latorre said. "They are very professional in their work, and they are very competent. I love working with them always in the pursuit of excellence and perfection to win. In 2015, I have the goal of winning the Pro Mazda Championship, and I know that is possible with Cape Motorsports."

Cape Motorsports made its Pro Mazda debut in 2014 with its drivers finishing second and third, and the team finishing a close second. Latorre, who helped the team win its fourth consecutive USF2000 championship, will join previously announced driver Daniel Burkett.

"We had a great year with Florian in 2014," said team owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape. "We saw him grow as a driver into a true champion. We feel confident that he will bring the momentum of the USF2000 series into Pro Mazda. We would like to thank Mazda and John Doonan for establishing the scholarship program, which is now globally recognized, along with the Series and their partners. We look forward to another good year on the Mazda Road to Indy."

The Mazda Road to Indy is the breeding ground for tomorrow's world-class drivers. Following his USF2000 Championship, Latorre was awarded the MAZDASPEED Driver Development Scholarship worth more than $375,000 to graduate to Pro Mazda.

"The Mazda Road to Indy has grown in stature such that we are not only attracting top American racers, we are attracting the best racers in the world. Florian is a great example of a talented young driver earning his way up to the top, thanks to our driver development program," noted John Doonan, Motorsports Director, Mazda North American Operations.
