After a successful start to the Mazda Road to Indy 2015 preseason testing, Juncos Racing looks to continue to build on the momentum gained last month into the next round of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires testing. Teams will participate in three sessions February 18th- 19th on the 2.75 mile, 16-Turn road course at NOLA Motorsports Park (North) located in Avondale, Louisiana.
Juncos Racing’s Kyle Kaiser and Spencer Pigot gave a strong run in their first outing in the Indy Lights series during the first rounds of testing last month at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Both rookies have recorded a combined total of 753 laps in the Mazda powered Dallara IL-15.
Kaiser, 18, (Santa Clara, California) has adapted quickly behind the wheel of the #18 InterVision/NetApp/JuniperNetworks/Juncos Racing car, recording the fastest lap at PBIR and the oval at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“The team continues to demonstrate their ability to adapt to this new car. It's still early and there is a lot of work ahead, but we are making steady progress. I'm looking forward to NOLA in a few days to continue our development."
Pigot, 21, (Indianapolis, Indiana), the 2014 Pro Mazda Champion, continues to show impressive results in the #12 Mazda Scholarship Juncos Racing car running inside the Top-3 at PBIR and finishing second overall at the Homestead-Miami Speedway oval.
“I'm looking forward to getting back in the Mazda IL-15," said Pigot. “It feels like it's been forever since our last test. The Juncos Racing guys have been working hard and we want to continue our development of the car this week with some fresh ideas."
Since completing the first few runs in the Mazda Powered Dallara IL-15, Juncos Racing Team Owner, Ricardo Juncos, is pleased with how the drivers and crew have adapted to the car and the knowledge they have gained within the first month of testing.
“I’m really pleased with how much we have accomplished in a short time," said Juncos. “We still have a long way to go in developing the car, but I am confident through the team’s dedication we will continue to show strong results as the season gets closer. We have worked very hard to give the drivers reliable and fast cars, and I cannot thank the crew enough for all of the time they have devoted."
The Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires kicks off the 2015 season March 28-29th on the Streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
