Winterfest: Aitken wins Pro Mazda Race 1

Team Pelfrey's Jack Aitken held off a hard changing Weiron Tan to take the checkered flag at New Orleans Motorsports Park in Pro Mazda race 1 of Cooper Tires Winterfest. The Andretti Autosport driver, who finished a mere three tenths behind Aitken, hounded the Brit for nearly all 19 laps, but was unable to get by.

Juncos Racing's Will Owen finished 9 seconds behind Aitken in third. Raoul Owens, who started eighth turned in an impressive drive to come home fourth. Canadian Garett Grist was fifth.

Pro Mazda Races 2 and 3 are slated for tomorrow at the 2.7-mile Avondale, LA circuit. Full results from race 1 below…
