Barcelona Day 4: Sainz Jr. mounts Super Soft Tires to top morning times
Carlos Sainz Jr did a public relations lap on super-soft tires and turned the fastest lap in his Toro Rosso to end the morning session of Barcelona Formula 1 testing on top Sunday.
The session ended early when Fernando Alonso went into the inside wall on the run between Turns 3 and 4 after turning the fifth best time on medium tires before going off on his 21st lap of the day.
An ambulance attended the scene of the accident, but the circuit reported that Alonso was "OK and conscious".
Sebastian Vettel was second for Ferrari on soft tires, lapping seven tenths slower than Sainz.
