Home race for Elliott and Napa

Chase Elliott

DRIVER: Chase Elliott / No. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet
RACE: Hisense 250 (163 laps / 251.02 miles)
TRACK: Atlanta Motor Speedway
DATE: Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 25, 2015) – Chase Elliott's debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway last year was a historic one. Less than six months ago, Elliott drove his NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet to his first career NASCAR XFINITY Series pole at the 1.54-mile facility, becoming the youngest pole winner in the track's history. Returning this weekend as the reigning series champion, Elliott is focused on defending the title and winning in front of his hometown crowd.

Elliott, a native of nearby Dawsonville, Ga., will have his work cut out for him, as Atlanta's new race date of Saturday, Feb. 28, will blanket the area in much cooler temperatures than what the No. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS team experienced last year. But if past efforts are any indication, Elliott is up for the challenge. The JR Motorsports driver scored two wins (Chicagoland Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway) and six top-five finishes at 1.5-mile tracks last season.

As a precursor to the event, Elliott visited the Atlanta market earlier this month to participate in a media tour promoting primary sponsor NAPA AUTO PARTS, whose headquarters is in Atlanta. For Elliott, the only thing bigger than racing in front of the home crowd and home sponsor, would be winning for them.

Tune in this Saturday as Elliott attempts to make up a 31-point deficit in the XFINITY Series championship standings during the Hisense 250, airing at 2 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 and PRN/Sirius XM.

Driver Quotes | Chase Elliott

On Atlanta Motor Speedway:

"I've only raced at Atlanta Motor Speedway once before, so it will be good to get back there to try and gain more from what we found last season. I learned a lot from (JRM teammate Kevin) Harvick during last year's race, as he runs such a solid line all the way around there. It's a fast, fast place and the track is worn a bit, so it certainly puts on a show for the fans."

On The 2015 Atlanta Motor Speedway Date Change:

"The Atlanta race used to be earlier in the year, so I don't think it will change a ton of things. It is so nice to come back home after two weeks of being in Daytona. My NAPA AUTO PARTS team and I couldn't be more excited to get back on the track this weekend in Atlanta."
