Formula E Long Beach ePrix Live on FOX Sports 1

The new fully electric, zero-emission FIA FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIP makes the second of its two U.S. stops this weekend, with Round 6 of the inaugural 11-race season live on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports GO on Saturday, April 4 (6:30 PM ET) from Long Beach, Calif. Veteran broadcaster Bob Varsha hosts coverage of the Long Beach ePrix along with the Formula E announce team of Dario Franchitti, Jack Nicholls, Nicki Shields and Robert Llewellyn.

Coming off of the successful Miami ePrix in March, Varsha has a new perspective of the ambitious series after visiting the site of the event on the streets of South Florida.

"I came away from Miami with even greater respect for the thought, planning and effort that has gone into Formula E," said Varsha, who hosts a 30-minute pre-race show this weekend. “The attitude of everyone involved is that of a group of racers ready to do anything asked of them to see the concept succeed. I was also amazed that, despite the delayed completion of the circuit, the drivers produced a terrific race. Maybe practice is over-rated!

“Round 6 in Long Beach will be a first for the series: a circuit that fans will recognize instantly from the many years of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach," Varsha added. “The ‘electric lap’ is slightly different: the famous blast down Shoreline Drive now sports a chicane to promote energy recapture, and the cars will turn right onto South Pine Avenue at IndyCar Turn 6 rather than continuing all the way to the traditional Turn 1. We've seen five different winners in as many races thus far, and if I had to pick a sixth for Long Beach I'd suggest Nelson Piquet, the only driver in the top six in points without a win, and Scott Speed, who finished second in his debut in Miami and will be racing in front of his home fans."

Heading into the Long Beach ePrix, Nicolas Prost, son of four-time Formula One champion Alain Prost, sits atop the points standings in his e.dams Renault (67 points), followed by Lucas Di Grassi (60, Audi Sport ABT) and Sam Bird (52, Virgin Racing). The U.S. entries of Andretti Formula E and Dragon Racing sit fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 10-team series standings.
