IMSA Releases Pre-Monterey GTD BoP Adjustments
Changes have been made to all six manufacturers in the GTD class, mainly involving weight, air restrictor and fuel capacity.
The majority of the cars have been given weight breaks, including the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 (-10 kg), Audi R8 LMS (-25 kg), BMW Z4 GT3 (-25 kg) and Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 (-20 kg).
The Dodge Viper GT3-R, meanwhile, has been handed a 30 kg weight increase, with the Porsche 911 GT America remaining unchanged with minimum weight, but does have a 10.5 mm reduction in air restrictor.
Restrictor changes have also been made to the Audi (+4.6 mm) and BMW (+19 mm) since last month’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The BMW will additionally be required to run with double dive planes.
Other changes include a 5-liter fuel increase for the Ferrari and 1 mm larger refueling restrictor, as well as fuel capacity changes to the Audi (+7 liters) and Aston Martin (-2 liters) as well.
The adjustments were made following an IMSA Technical Committee meeting held today with manufacturers.
According to an IMSA representative, additional group discussions will be planned in the future to ensure added transparency through the BoP process. John Dagys/Sportscar365
