F1 legend Michael Schumacher's son Mick impressed on his Formula 4 debut, finishing the race as the best-placed rookie.
The 16-year-old started 19th on the grid but charged to a ninth-place finish on Saturday at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
Speaking after the race, Schumacher Jnr said: "Of course, I'm pleased that I caught up – it didn't occur to me at first that I was best rookie! After yesterday's qualifying and my grid position, I'm really satisfied."
Former F1 driver Gerhard Berger, who competed against Schumacher Sr during his career, says the youngster is accustomed to spending life in the spotlight due to his father's unprecedented success.
“I know him a bit and he’s a good lad, with both feet on the ground and the racing bug within him," Berger said.
"He grew up in this environment and it is his life. He’s not in any danger of being imbalanced by it.
“He’s already driving in the German Formula 4 now, which is exactly the right introduction to the sport.
"But it’s my opinion that he’ll fairly rapidly see him in Formula 3. That’s when we’ll see how much talent he’s really got."
