Formula 1’s Aerodynamic Technology Moves Into Refrigerator Market

F1's "cutting-edge aerodynamic technology is moving into the supermarket chill cabinet," according to Alan Baldwin of REUTERS. Williams Advanced Engineering, part of the F1 team, said on Friday that it had "partnered with start-up Aerofoil Energy to develop a device that will save money and energy by keeping more cold air inside open-fronted refrigerators."

Sainsbury's, Britain's second largest supermarket chain with 1,100 stores, is "among retailers testing the product." Williams Advanced Engineering Managing Dir Craig Wilson said the F1-derived technology had "global potential." Wilson said, "The savings in operational costs and emissions are extremely promising."
