GP2 cars on par with F1 cars
Today's F1 cars with their hybrid engines are slow, expensive dogs. They doubled the cost and ruined the sport |
After the first practice session for both the GP2 cars and the F1 cars, the times are fairly similar with the top GP2 drivers faster than the bottom 15% of the F1 times.
GP2 teams spend 1/100th of what F1 teams spend, proving that all that money spent on F1 technology is a complete waste. Not only does it take the driver out of the equation (any monkey can drive an F1 car) it really does not get you much performance gain.
GP2, with very little technology, is a true measure of driver talent – i.e. a real sport. F1 is no longer a sport, but an engineering exercise. Engineering is NOT a sport.
