Record Payouts Set for Pirelli World Challenge Detroit Grand Prix Weekend Races
On Sunday, a race win in GT will net $20,000, while a second brings $15,000, and a third $10,000. In GTA, race winners will receive $10,000 while a second place finish nets $7,500, and a third $5,000.
A sold out, 28-car GT/GTA field that features platforms from 13 automotive manufacturers including Cadillac, McLaren, Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, Nissan, Acura, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin and BMW will compete at Detroit for the double header race weekend. The weekend also marks the return of the series to live television coverage as Sunday's Round 11 race will air on CBS Sports Network starting at 11 a.m. Eastern.
"The series is proud to be in a position to be invited to do a live race on CBS Sports Network and to have a great partner like Cadillac as our event sponsor," said Scott Bove, President and CEO, WC Vision/Pirelli World Challenge. "The live race will be the first in modern day Pirelli World Challenge and the GT/GTA record nearly $70,000 payout will certainly bring excitement to the podium finishers."
