Morning Update #2 from Detroit

James Davison

I talked with the James Davison today after his Tudor series warm up this morning. James has had a busy week with race cars, Sunday he was racing in the Indy 500 for Dale Coyne Racing. After a miscall on pit road, his car was retired. he said it was a bittersweet feeling about the 500. "I was running in the top 3rd of the field with half of the race to go. I was on course to finish in the Top 10. It was a frustrating and Unfortunate ending."

He is qualified 8th for today's Pirelli world Challenge race, which he says is a faster car than the #007 Aston Martin in which he is qualified 16th for the Tudor United SportsCar race.

His career goal is to drive an Indy car and feels being in North America is his best opportunity for this to happen. "I cannot risk losing my sports car ride at this time. But IndyCar is where I want to be." He is living the race car driver dream in North America.

In the morning practice, the Penske cars did not run the new aero piece on the side pod. All the other Chevy cars had it on. I asked a Chevy representative to explain what that piece actually did and he explained that it was for balance on the car. He also explained that it was up to the driver if the piece was on the car. This piece was in the original kit that teams received in March. But the only need it for the tracks that need higher downforce.
