Good morning from Toronto

Could be a wet afternoon at Exhibition Place

It's Race Day here in Toronto! It's a pleasant morning with the sun starting to peak out of the clouds.

However, AR1's Greater Toronto Area Weather Bureau reports a different forecast for today's race, as rain is expected this afternoon. Now, it won't be the race threatening thunderstorms, but there is expected to be a rather consistent light rain throughout the afternoon. Yes, chances are we're looking at yet another wet race for the Verizon IndyCar Series.

Of course, the rain makes predicting the race difficult, and we could see a surprise winner. James Hinchcliffe won at NOLA starting 16th and Carlos Munoz started 20th at Detroit Duel 1.

Will Power has won before in the rain at Toronto – here in a proper IndyCar – the Panoz DP01

At the front of the field, we all know Will Power, who won a wet race here in 2007, is outstanding in the rain. However, Simon Pagenaud, starting next to Power is hungry for that first victory with Team Penske. Series championship leader Juan Pablo Montoya starts third with Scott Dixon who swept the weekend in 2013 fourth. Sebastien Bourdais starting in fifth has won twice at Toronto also. So, a pretty formidable lineup at the front. Throw in the predicted rain and it should make for an interesting start.

With Alex Tagliani is racing this season in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series, Bronte, Eva Rose and Alex will be moving back to Montreal next month. Alex finished fifth last night driving the #18 EpiPen/CGI/CanTorque Chevrolet in the NCATS race at Chaudiere.

I will keep you posted on the race conditions later today. Warm up is at 10:40
am Eastern time.
