Gabby Chaves to run Tony Stewart Classic Midget Race

Gabby Chaves

On his weekend off from the Verizon IndyCar Series, Bryan Herta Autosport driver Gabby Chaves will take part in the inaugural "Tony Stewart Classic" midget race at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Honda Racing and Honda Performance Development invited Chaves to run a Honda powered midget that is in development for and owned by USAC.

Chaves knows he's a "duck out of water" in this category of racing, and was somewhat surprised to see the car was front engine, had no mirrors, and used no spotters. However, he's excited for the challenge of the 1/5 mile asphalt oval on Indianapolis's southeast side. Visit www.speedrome.com for more information.

Gabby Chaves on his first USAC Midget Race:
"I'm very excited about this opportunity Honda, HPD & USAC are giving me to run in the Tony Stewart Classic. Short track midget racing is totally new to me; I've never even been to one a midget race! But I'm excited for the challenge and thankful that Honda and HPD have the faith in me to do this."
