Pruett, van der Zande, Henzler Better Track Records in Final Practice

Scott Pruett ran the fastest lap of the weekend in Friday morning’s third and final TUDOR United SportsCar Championship practice session at Circuit of The Americas, unofficially breaking the track record with a lap of 1:57.366 (104.289 mph) in the No. 01 Ford EcoBoost/Riley, bettering Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates ‘ teammate Joey Hand’s best lap from Thursday.

Ozz Negri was second with a lap of 1:57.571 (104.107 mph) in the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing with Curb/Agajanian AERO Ligier JS P2/Honda co-driven by John Pew. He was followed by Ricky Taylor, 1:57.868 (103.845 mph) in the No. 10 Konica Minolta Corvette DP co-driven by his brother Jordan.

Renger van der Zande also unofficially bettered the Prototype Challenge (PC) mark, running 1:59.609 (102.333 mph) in the No. 8 Starworks Motorsport ORECA FLM09 co-driven by Mike Hedlund.

Another unofficial record was recorded in GT Le Mans (GTLM), with Wolf Henzler running a late lap of 2:03.521 (99.092 mph) in the No. 17 Team Falken Tire Porsche 911 RSR co-driven by Bryan Sellers.

Christopher Haase was fastest in GT Daytona (GTD) with a lap of 2:09.365 (94.616 mph) in the No. 48 Paul Miller Racing Castrol EDGE Audi R8 LMS co-driven by Dion von Moltke.

An incident between the No. 16 BAR 1 Motorsports Top 1 Oil/Jet Suites/Edvisors ORECA FLM09 of Todd Slusher and the No. 88 Starworks Motorsport ORECA FLM09 of Sean Rayhall resulted in a brief red flag. Both drivers were quickly evaluated and released from the circuit’s medical center.

The existing track records will be on the line today when qualifying to set the field for the Lone Star Le Mans begins at 4:45 p.m. ET. Qualifying will be streamed live on IMSA.com and the IMSA mobile app. Saturday’s live coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 2, with the race rebroadcast on Sunday at FS1 beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET.
