Formula E to limit driver changes
This move will limit the number of ride-buyers a team can sign up – and hurt their bottom line |
Organizers of the Formula E championship have announced that teams will be permitted to just two driver changes per car across the course of the campaign from the start of the 2015/16 season.
Some teams tweaked their line-ups on a regular basis in the 2014/15 season, with Andretti fielding eight different drivers and only four of the 10 squads retaining the same pair at every round.
Along with the regulation limiting each car to two driver alterations across the course of the season, teams will not be permitted driver changes during the last three rounds of the championship.
This has been done in order to avoid any potential conflict in the fight for the title.
In the event of force majeure and the driver is unavailable for an unforeseen reason, Formula E has confirmed that a change of driver will be permitted at the discretion of the Stewards.
