David Reynolds fined $25k for calling Bathurst 1000 team the ‘p***y wagon’

Australian racing champion David Reynolds has been slammed after he called an all-female V8 Supercars team 'the p***y wagon' ahead of the Bathurst 1000 race this week.

Reynolds has since apologized for the sexist slur against underdog duo Renee Gracie and Simona de Silvestro, but was still slapped with a huge $25,000 fine, hours after his 'disgraceful' comments.

The 30-year-old made the offhanded remark when asked if he was 'wary' of the Harvey Norman Supergirls duo during an official post-practice press conference at Mount Panorama on Thursday.

The women are the first all-female combination to race at Bathurst since 1998.

The Ford driver, who is currently dating former Big Brother personality Tahan Lew-Fatt, expressed his remorse over the offensive comments on Thursday night.

'I unreservedly apologize for a comment I made in a press conference earlier today in relation to my female team-mates,' he said.

'While it was intended to be humorous, I understand it has caused offence. As I stated in the press conference I genuinely hope they perform well as they are both highly-talented as they showed today with their pace.'

'People know I am a little left-of-center with my humor but I understand today I took it too far.'
