Texas adding more SAFER barrier
When NASCAR returns to Texas Motor Speedway next month, competitors will be greeted by 3,000 additional feet of SAFER (Steel and Foam Energy Reduction) barrier on the 1.5-mile track. On Friday, TMS completed the first of three phases on the frontstretch. The project is expected to be finished next week – in time for the Texas AAA 500 on November 8. In April, TMS added 250 feet of tire-bundle barriers to five inner walls on the recommendation of NASCAR, following a sport-wide reexamination of tracks after Kyle Busch's vicious wreck at Daytona International Speedway in February.
