Video: Boston Mayor: ‘IndyCar is not the Olympics’

Taxpayers may be footing part of the bill for an expensive sporting event in Boston. There has NEVER been a street race that was financially sound unless the city contributed to the cost of street improvements. If race organizers have to foot the full bill, it's likely the race will eventually go belly-up. However, this race has huge potential for IndyCar.

There are more than 100 colleges and universities in the greater Boston, Massachusetts area. These include technical schools, art schools, liberal arts schools, major research institutions and many more. With all the colleges in Boston the students will be back in town and if they market it correctly, this event could be a big college party and should be able to draw upwards of 100,000 on race day. Just make sure there's plenty of beer and lots of live music. Mark C. reporting for AR1.com
