Australian driver Jake Parsons has taken the first step on the US Mazda Road to Indy ladder system, joining Juncos Racing for the 2016 Pro Mazda Championship. After spending three ‘awesome’ days testing with the team, Parsons is excited about the future saying, "I’m delighted to be joining a winning team in Juncos as my career moves to America."

The 20-year-old Sydney resident won the 2014 AsiaCup and impressed during this year’s Formula Masters China Series, finishing as vice champion. Always keen to further his driving experience and knowledge, he has also travelled to the UK to spend time testing in the GP2 simulator, posting competitive times alongside a series front runner.

A move to the Mazda Road to Indy has been a big focus for the young antipodean driver, who is now looking forward to the challenges ahead. "I have a lot to learn but I know this is the best place to do that. It’s been a very smooth and positive start. The pace has already been strong and I’ve integrated well into the team."

Established in Argentina by Ricardo Juncos back in 1997, Juncos Racing has a strong pedigree in the Indycar feeder system, with Spencer Pigot winning the 2015 Indy Lights Championship for the team. Indycar driver Conor Daly, who has advised Parsons on his US move, also won the 2010 Pro Mazda series with Juncos.

Parsons will now join Juncos for the official Pro Mazda two-day test at Circuit of the Americas over the weekend of 21-22 November.
