Villeneuve to miss Punta race

Jacques Villeneuve has been forced to miss this afternoon's Julius Baer Punta del Este ePrix due to the damage his car sustained in qualifying.

The 1997 Formula 1 World Champion suffered a heavy crash at the penultimate corner during qualifying. He was unhurt, but the damage sustained to his Venturi chassis is too great to repair in time for the race at 16:00 (local time).

With the field already reduced to 18 entries following the withdrawal of Trulli, this means there will be just 17 drivers taking part in today's ePrix.
