British teenager Max Fewtrell will race with Carlin in the 2016 MSA Formula Championship. The 16 year-old joins the reigning champions for his first season in car racing, after an impressive karting career.

Fewtrell began his karting career in 2009 and since then has competed in various levels, winning the Trofeo Andrea Margutti KFJ series in 2014 and finishing third in the German KFJ championship the same season.

The Birmingham born driver has made good use of his time since graduating from KF in 2015, learning his craft in the MRF Challenge Formula 2000 Series where he claimed a third place in Dubai, despite racing against drivers with experience in Formula 3 and BRDC Formula 4.

Fewtrell is now focusing on a detailed MSA Formula test plan, which will prepare him for the 10 round junior championship which supports the popular BTCC package.

Speaking about his new team, Fewtrell said, "I’m really excited to get going. Carlin is a really big name in motorsport and I know all the little details I learn with them will definitely help me throughout my career. I couldn’t really ask for a better place to start my career in cars.

“The tests have gone really well, our pace is looking strong and I’ve been improving every time. The goal is definitely to win the championship this year, I can’t wait!"

Trevor Carlin added, “We’re extremely happy to have Max in the team; he’s shown great pace in testing so far, and despite his young age he has demonstrated real maturity in the car. As his first season in car racing, no doubt 2016 will be a steep learning curve but Max has all the necessary skills to be able to be competitive from the outset."

Fewtrell joins already announced drivers James Pull and Devlin DeFrancesco at the championship winning team.
