Rolex 24 Hour 19: Derani leads in #2 Honda

The #2 Tequila Patron ESM Ligier Honda

Shortly after our last update, Pipo Derani moved the #2 Tequila Patron ESM Honda to the lead. The 22-year-old Brazilian has spent the last 45 minutes or so building a 27 second lead over second place Max Angelelli in the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette. Filipe Albuquerque sits third in the #5 Action Express Corvette.

It was a difficult hour for the sister Action Express car. After fighting to get back on the lead lap earlier this morning, Jonny Adam was forced to take the #31 to the garage to repair a broken rear left drive shaft. The car would return to the track after about 25 minutes of repairs but is now 14 laps down.

Another contender had a difficult hour as, the #911 Porsche, which won pole in GTLM and had been one of the contending cars in the class, came to pit road also with apparent left rear drive shaft issues. Then the car stalled when trying to leave pit road. The #911 is three laps behind class leader Tommy Milner in the #4 Corvette.

Chris Miller and the #85 continue to pace the Prototype Challenge class.
