Rebellion Racing Announce Strategic Partnership With Dunlop

REBELLION Racing is pleased to announce that the team has chosen Dunlop as their tyre partner for the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Dunlop announced last year that it will return to the top category of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2016 and after extensive testing REBELLION Racing was convinced that Dunlop could provide competitive tires in the LMP1 category. This decision brings back open tyre competition to the LMP1 category for the first time since 2012.

As a main part of the partnership between both parties, REBELLION Racing become Dunlop’s official LMP1 development partner. A dedicated development and testing program is already in place and additional tests will be conducted in the coming weeks before the start of the season for the FIA WEC Prologue at Paul Ricard HTTT. The objective of the coming tests will be to define Dunlop tyros specifications, tailored to suit the Rebellion R-One LMP1 cars, for the 2016 FIA WEC season.

REBELLION Racing is proud to have reached such an agreement with Dunlop. Working closely with a tyre manufacturer was one of the aims of the Swiss team as they seek to take the challenge to the manufacturer cars. For the last four years, REBELLION Racing has been the top non-manufacturer team in the FIA World Endurance Championship, winning four times the FIA WEC Endurance Trophy for Private LMP1 Teams and winning three times the Privateer class at Le Mans 24 Hours, including finishing in fourth place overall twice.

REBELLION Racing confirmed last week their 2016 racing programme focused on running a pair of upgraded Rebellion R-One AER LMP1 cars in the FIA World Endurance Championship, which includes the prestigious 24 Heures du Mans.

Bart Hayden, Rebellion Racing Team Manager : “We are delighted to welcome Dunlop as tyre partner of REBELLION Racing and are excited about working alongside a company with such a deep motorsport background and rich history at Le Mans. We look forward to establishing a strong and long term relationship with Dunlop. We saw in recent seasons that Dunlop have provided very competitive tyros to the LMP2 cars and we hope that this partnership will further improve the competitiveness of the Rebellion R-One LMP1 cars."

Xavier Fraipont, Managing Director, Dunlop Motorsport EMEA: “Team Rebellion Racing has established itself as one of the most respected and professional teams in the FIA WEC paddock. We are delighted that they have chosen Dunlop as a technical partner. We are proud that they selected our iconic brand after an intensive comparative tyre test and we will be providing focused technical support to help us drive forward together during the season."
