Grass Roots racing champion dies (Update)
Steve Stroud |
It is with a heavy heart that today marks the passing of Mr. Steve Stroud after a short but hard fought battle with cancer.
A native of California, Steve and his wife Jan, owned and operated an industrial hose and fitting distributorship called the Hose Advantage Store which is the Parker dealer in the Phoenix, Arizona region, as well as a sister company, Lubrication and Supply. Steve’s business pursuits over the past 45 years in the industrial supply industry afforded him the ability to follow his passion of open wheel racing where his generosity afforded many young aspiring drivers to pursue their dreams.
Steve and Jan have taken their passion of open wheel racing to unimaginable levels when they founded the Arizona Open Wheel Racing Museum, also in Phoenix. The 14,000 square foot showcase is a mecca of open wheel racing memorabilia, pristinely restored race cars and historic artifacts intended to preserve the history and memories of the sport’s legacy over the past 50 years. Steve’s vision in establishing the non-profit museum was to enable the youth of today to experience and appreciate the roots of automobile racing and the personalities that made the sport what it is today.
Steve’s giant legacy, warm heart and contribution to his fellow man leave the earth a much better place.
God speed Steve Stroud. May you rest in peace, friend.
