Lamborghini Super Trofeo joins Boston GP lineup

BOSTON (March 3, 2016) – The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America series has joined the exciting on-track line-up for the inaugural Grand Prix of Boston powered by LogMeIn scheduled for Labor Day weekend, September 2-4, 2016 in the South Boston Waterfront area.

Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America is entering its fourth season as one of the most exciting race series, joining Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe and Asia. In North America the series races alongside what is known as some of the premier racing series, including the Verizon IndyCar Series, where they will be paired for the first time at the Grand Prix of Boston powered by LogMeIn. Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will have up to 25 cars race the challenging 11-turn, 2.2-mile temporary street circuit that winds its way through Boston’s historic Seaport Waterfront area. The Grand Prix of Boston powered by LogMeIn will be the first street race for Lamborghini in North America, a decision based on the rousing success of the Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix for the Asian series last season.

“The addition of the Lamborghini Series to our weekend lineup is a dream come true for motorsports fans and super car enthusiasts in the Northeast," said Grand Prix of Boston President John Casey. “The cars are absolutely stunning and they put on a terrific on-track show which coupled with the ability for fans to get an up close view of these amazing machines in the paddock is really a dream weekend."

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series will compete in one qualifying session on Friday and then compete in 50-minute races on both Saturday and Sunday. The Boston stop will host two of the twelve races on the schedule for the series and is the third to last stop on the way to the series finale and World Final competition in Valencia, Spain in December.

The race purpose-built, 620-horsepower Lamborghini HuracaÌn machine includes technology and performance and design lines taken directly from the exciting Lamborghini HuracaÌn LP 610- 4 street car, which made its global debut in 2014. It is the first purpose-built racecar from Lamborghini and is built and designed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, a specialist team within Lamborghini’s Research and Design department dedicated to motorsport including GT3, the Super Trofeo Series and all customer driving programs.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series joins an exciting and unique racing line-up for the inaugural Grand Prix of Boston including the Verizon IndyCar Series, Stadium Super Trucks Series and the Mazda Indy Lights Series. The Grand Prix of Boston will be held September 2-4, 2016 in the South Boston Waterfront Area. In addition to the racing lineup, the event weekend will feature a range of family-friendly festival activities including concerts and a family fun zone.
