V8 Supercars set to make history in Tasmania
Six-time V8 Supercars Champion Jamie Whincup will be aiming to become only the second man in the history of the sport to win 100 races while Holden will be looking to secure its 500th win.
Whincup is currently on 98 wins and would need to win both of the weekend’s races to follow in the footsteps of teammate Craig Lowndes who brought up his 100th win in Darwin last year.
Whincup holds the record for the most race wins at Symmons Plains with 11. Holden drivers have won the last 10 races in a row at Symmons Plains spread across Triple Eight Race Engineering (seven wins) and Brad Jones Racing (three wins).
Fabian Coulthard will also start his 300th V8 Supercars race on Saturday. His team will continue their run as the most experienced in the field as they start their 800th race on Sunday since debuting at Symmons Plains in 1981.
V8 Supercars have made the event more affordable than ever before, with reduced Trackside Tickets, Free Parking and the launch of the ‘Park and View Ticket Package’.
Fans heading to the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint will be able to purchase tickets from as little as $10.
For the first time, fans will be able to enjoy the all new ‘Park and View Ticket Package’ which offers Trackside and Paddock access for 2 adults and 2 children, and premium viewing from the comfort of their own car for one simple price.
Children 12 and under will receive free admission when accompanied by an adult with a Trackside ticket.
