Statement from Toyota on the passing of Larry Slutter

Retired TRD team member Larry Slutter passed away on Monday evening, April 4 at his home in Reno, Nevada at the age of 73. Prior to joining TRD, Slutter served in the Air Force and later moved to Indianapolis at the influence of his friend, Aldo Andretti, where he advanced his career in motorsports.

"Everyone at TRD (Toyota Racing Development) mourns the loss of a great friend and colleague, Larry Slutter. During his 16 years at TRD, he had a direct hand in virtually every motorsports engine program that Toyota participated in during this period – IMSA GTP, CART/IRL, off-road, Pikes Peak, USAC, Grand-Am and NASCAR.

"His contributions helped TRD and Toyota achieve the success we see today across all of our motorsports activities and his legacy will live on in so many of our team members. Our sincere condolences to Larry’s wife of 50 years, Alice, along with their three daughters and five grandchildren – you are in our thoughts and prayers."
