IndyCar, F1 and NASCAR TV Ratings

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Sunday
2.22 rating FS1 7:30 pm AAA 400 (Dover, DE), slightly down from last year's 2.3 overnight rating, also on FS1. The 2.2 is the lowest for the race in at least a decade, falling below last year. Sunday’s race was the first in three weeks to post a decline in the metered markets. Kansas increased 20% the previous week and Talladega pulled even two weeks ago. For the season, it was the eighth of 10 races to have a year-over-year drop — not counting Bristol or Richmond, which were rained out a year ago — and the seventh to set or tie a multi-year low.

INDYCAR
Saturday
0.8 overnight and a 0.97 'final' rating on ABC 3:30 pm Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis – ABC on Saturday afternoon drew a 0.8 overnight rating for the Verizon IndyCar Series Angie's List Grand Prix of Indianapolis, a slight uptick from a 0.7 for the race last year. The inaugural road race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in '14 drew a 0.9 overnight. The final rating was a 0.97 with over 1.3 million viewers (1.1 million households) tuned in. As we have been saying for years, IndyCar can hang by the neck on NBCSN with minuscule ratings and a paddock with few sponsors, or put all its races on ABC and deliver well over 1 million viewers per race and have a sponsors knocking on the door. IndyCar prefers to hang its teams by the neck with a tight rope.
