Weather could be an issue for NASCAR All-Star Weekend
So far this week, the Charlotte metro area has received over a half inch of rain. With mainly light and scattered showers expected on Wednesday and Thursday, NASCAR expects to get all practice and qualifying races in without problems.
Problems may arise Friday night, as strong storms look to move into the Carolinas. Crews have already made the call for at least eight jet dryers ready to go for Friday night's North Carolina Education Lottery 200, starting at 7:00pm/et.
Rain will continue Friday night into Saturday morning, with models suggesting up to 1-2 inches of rain possible. According to Charlotte Motor Speedway crews, it all boils down to when that rain will stop. They promise to get the All Star Race in if it stops around noon Saturday.
"With the equipment that we have available, we can do this place in about an hour and we could be dry and ready for that race," said director of operations Shaun Johnson. The latest models show good news for those attending the race, as showers look to push out out by Saturday afternoon. WSOC TV
