Reader: Dumb and Dumber running IndyCar
Just as it was getting interesting, they announced that they would continue with coverage of the last hour on ESPN News channel. It didn't help me any because I didn't know to set my Tivo to ESPN News. I did read on AutoRacing1.com that the next hour was pretty exciting. You would perhaps think that the network telecast would be planned around getting happy hour in. Nope. I have heard from quite a lot of friends who suffered the same fate, and all had the same comment: "Gosh, It is absolutely amazing how stupid IndyCar is". Yes. Correct.
Finally, for today's Pole Day, I went on to IndyCar website and you would think that they would have a very visible schedule for today's action. Nope. But I did find when the race is Next Sunday. So I don't know if there is any additional telecast aside from the blocked ABC show. But I really don't care so much at this point.
I am a driver in a MRTI series, I have been watching Indy all my life, and I know quite a few of the drivers and am friends with many drivers and several team owners. So if I shrug my shoulders and say "I don't care", can you imagine the average "fan"? The truth is that nobody watches this series and for this there is a good reason. IndyCar doesn't seem to realize that for the rest of the Country, who are not living in Indianapolis, Indiana, this is not the "big deal" it is in Indy, and their arrogance which has sunk the series is centered around the misperception of the series by people who live in the small pond in Indy that the Indy 500 is the biggest deal in sports. That is why they have a 0.2 TV rating.
"IndyCar–If a tree falls in Indianapolis, can anyone hear it?". These people are freaking morons. Name Withheld
