Charlotte Goodyear Tire Notes

All Goodyear tires run this week will be branded with "Support Our Troops" instead of the customary "Eagle" . . . teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series will run completely different tire set-ups at Charlotte . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires that debuted for Sprint Cup teams at the Sprint Showdown/All-Star event at Charlotte last week . . . this tire set-up came out of a Goodyear test at Charlotte on March 8-9.

Drivers participating in that test were Austin Dillon, Jamie McMurray, Brian Scott and Martin Truex Jr.

Compared to what was run at Charlotte last year, both of these tires have an updated construction to bring them into line with what is run at other speedways . . . this left-side code features a compound change for more grip . . . this right-side code is a single tread compound tire which offers more grip than either of the two compounds run on Goodyear's multi-zone tread tire run at Charlotte last year . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Charlotte . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

Goodyear's "Wingfoot One" will be in the skies over Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend . . . this ship is based out of Pompano Beach, Fla. . . . Wingfoot One will provide aerial coverage for Fox Sports for both the NASCAR Xfinity and Sprint Cup races. Goodyear Racing
