The Indy 500 is full of traditions surrounding the race in the month of May. A newer tradition started 10 years ago is the Burger Bash. The Steak 'N Shake Carb Night Burger Bash is a free gathering for Indy 500 fans, hosted by IndyStar's Curt Cavin. Kevin Lee & Cavin were broadcasting "Trackside" LIVE, while attendees ate burgers, sipped on milkshakes and listened to some of their favorite drivers talk about how they think their race day will unfold. This year the event moved to the Pan Am Plaza to allow for more people and closer access for the drivers to stop in and talk with fans.

Their was a live auction held to benefit Basic Needs, Simple Solutions, an Indianapolis based non-profit organization. Some items auctioned off were an autographed Graham Rahal driver uniform (the Steak 'n Shake variety, 2 Verizon IndyCar Series hard cards (good for admission for all 2016 races after the Indy 500), one of Firestone's 100th Indy 500 tires (with names of all the drivers who have won on the manufacturer's product), special VIP package for two to any IndyCar races the rest of the season (except 500 and Sonoma), tickets to Maxim party being held at Pan Am Pavilion (selling for $500 at the door and a chance to co-host "Trackside" with with Curt Cavin & Kevin Lee!

The event was well attended by fans and media people. There were plenty of Steak 'n Shake burgers and milkshakes on hand. Although most people attending had to pay for parking, now that the event was downtown, the new venue looks like a good fit for future Burger Bashes. Lucille Dust reporting from Indy
