IndyCar: Pagenaud tops opening practice at Road America

Penske Chevy driver and IndyCar point leader Simon Pagenaud topped the timesheets in opening practice for the Kohler Grand Prix of Road America with a time of 1m43.480s on the 4.0-mile picturesque road course.
2nd quick was Carlos Munoz in his Andretti Honda at 1m43.556s with a fast lap late in the session.
The track record is 1m39.866s / 145.924mph set by Dario Franchitti in a CART IndyCar.
Third was another Honda driven by Foyt Racing's Jack Hawksworth followed by the Chevys of Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan rounding out the top-5.
Injured driver Josef Newgarden was 10th after being cleared to practice. After the session he headed to medical for a talk with the doctors with the hope of being cleared to drive for the rest of the weekend.
The session was relatively clean with just a few innocent spins, including Mikhail Aleshin. Mark C. reporting from Road America
