07/09/16 Sauber driver Marcus Ericsson has been taken to hospital as a precaution following a dramatic crash during the final practice session for the British Grand Prix.
Ericsson drifted wide onto the damp astroturf exiting Stowe and lost control of his C35-Ferrari, slamming into the barriers on the inside of the circuit.
Such was the force of the impact, it caused the steering wheel to fall off its rack, with all four corners of the car sustaining substantial damage.
Ericsson climbed out of the car and gave the thumbs-up to spectators but Sauber confirmed that he has been taken to hospital for "routine check-ups".
