Kanaan leads Chevy 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 in opening Iowa practice
It only took Ganassi Chevy driver Tony Kanaan 5 laps to run 100% throttle around the 7/8ths mile Iowa oval and record the fastest speed of 186.902 mph in practice for the Iowa Corn 300 IndyCar race. He was followed by seven other Chevy drivers who turned 100% throttle laps fast enough to lock out Honda from the top-8 fastest speeds of the morning.
Helio Castroneves was 2nd in his Penske Chevy and Josef Newgarden 3rd.
The top Honda was Ryan Hunter-Reay in 9th who has won this race multiple times and is favored to do it again.
While Chevy has the distinction of turning the top-8 fastest laps, Honda powered cars have the dubious honor of turning the 9 slowest speeds of the session
