The Motorsport Safety Foundation has presented each region of Hooked on Driving (HOD), one of the nation's leading high-performance driver training providers, with two Frontal Head Restraints (FHR) as part of its Race with Restraint initiative.

Driving coaches will use the FIA-approved Hybrids made by Simpson Race Products while coaching participants at High Performance Driving Experience (HPDE) events across the country. These FHRs can be used with three-point seat belts, so drivers at all levels, including those in street cars, can take advantage of the latest in safety technology.

"Everyone at the Motorsport Safety Foundation is pleased to be able to give back to the HPDE community via Race with Restraint," Chief Operating Officer Scot Elkins said. "We are grateful to all of the people who helped fund the program, as we are now able to provide state-of-the-art safety equipment to driving coaches nationwide.

"While drivers are not racing when participating in HPDE events, the FHRs were designed to protect competitors and performance drivers alike. We look forward to cultivating a long-lasting relationship with Hooked on Driving and thank the driving coaches for the excellent work they do."

Hooked On Driving operates in six key regions of the United States, including Northern California/Reno, the Northeast, Florida, Great Lakes, Southern states and the Pacific Northwest. The Motorsport Safety Foundation will ultimately provide each region with full Race with Restraint kits comprised of Simpson Hybrids and HANS Devices. One hundred percent of the revenue collected from the rental program will go to the Foundation and fund its various safety initiatives.

"As performance driving event managers, it is our responsibility to bring novice HPDE drivers 'up to speed' not only on skills but focus on safety from the start," Hooked on Driving Founder David Ray said. "We actively manage our track events with safety and incident prevention in mind. It is also up to us to set an example as coaches and staff on and off the track. Our customers seeing HOD's commitment, as evidenced by our use of safety equipment provided by the Motorsport Safety Foundation, will have a positive ripple effect on our entire Team HOD community."
