Video: Whincup focused on taking the ton

Six-time Supercars Champion Jamie Whincup is aiming to make history with his 100th race win at this weekend’s Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint.

The Red Bull Racing driver goes Queensland Raceway sitting on 99 career wins, second only to Craig Lowndes on the all-time winners list. Whincup admits he would have liked to have hit the ton earlier this season and is focused on reaching the milestone this weekend.

Whincup is one of only three drivers to have taken multiple wins this year, and leads the Championship just past the halfway mark of the season.

On-track action began today at Queensland Raceway with two practice sessions, ahead of tomorrow’s 120km race and Sunday’s 200km feature.

Nissan's Michael Caruso topped the opening practice session this afternoon at Queensland Raceway, in front of DJR Team Penske's Scott Pye and Nissan team boss Todd Kelly. A second practice session will start at 4:10pm local.

The Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint will be broadcast live and ad free on Fox Sports all weekend, with highlights packages on Network Ten, ONE and WIN TV in some regional areas. Check local guides for details.
