Harvick’s crew chief suspended for lug nut violation
NASCAR on Wednesday announced Childers has been fined $20,000 and suspended from all NASCAR competition through Aug. 3 after Harvick’s No. 4 Chevrolet was found to have improperly installed lug nuts following Sunday’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis.
Childers has also been placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31.
According to Stewart-Haas Racing, Dax Gerringer, race engineer with the No. 4 team, will serve as the interim crew chief this weekend at Pocono. Additionally, Greg Zipadelli, SHR’s vice president of competition, will be on hand to support Gerringer.
In addition, the teams of Kasey Kahne, Paul Menard and Matt DiBennedetto were each given written warnings for failing the Laser Inspection Station twice in pre-race inspection at Indy.
The teams of Kurt Busch and Aric Almirola received written warnings for failing template inspection twice during pre-qualifying inspection at Indy.
The Truck team of Austin Wayne Self received a written warning for his truck’s trailing arms failing to meet specifications in opening day inspection at Eldora Speedway.
