Christmas in July at Mid-Ohio

The temperature outside is only 81 degrees, which is not too hot for a race this late in July. But the track staff are trying to chill that number a bit by having Christmas in July for the many fans that camp at this track for the weekend. The campers that wish to participate will decorate their campsite with a Christmas theme for a chance to win Honda gear or a pace car ride.

Graham Rahal, the local favorite and winner of last year's race, and James Hinchcliffe, the mayor of Hinchtown and the pole winner for this year's Indy 500, will visit campsites after Saturday qualifying and choose their favorites and present awards.

And for if you are not camping this weekend, you can participate in the Hawaiian shirt contest on Saturday at 11:30 am. Santa will be assigned new elves, with the Indy Car drivers helping him judge the contest. The winner will get a pace car ride around this beautiful 2.258 mile road course.

I will have an update on the winners tomorrow. This sounds like a fun way to celebrate the halfway point to Christmas.
