Video: Racing a Formula E car

As a motorsports history buff, I’m amazed that the very first land speed records were all set by electric-powered vehicles*. Yet it took well over 100 years before serious electric race cars would actually hit the track in an international race series.

But now they have – in the all-electric FIA Formula E Championship. And these battery-powered open wheelers have attracted some serious manufacturer involvement – along with quite a list of top drivers.

Is this a preview of the type of cars we’ll be racing in the not to distant future? What are they like to drive?
