Texas Motor Speedway crew today "began repairing a hole in the asphalt of the venue's infield road course blasted open by a lightning strike Thursday night."

The hole measures 18 inches in diameter and five and a half inches deep, "reaching the track’s concrete base."

Track staff who were at TMS at the time of the lightning strike were "stunned that the bolt missed" the track's video screen, nicknamed "Big Hoss." STAR-TELEGRAM.com
