Petit Le Mans: Halfway Update
The #5 Action Express Car leads |
The 19th annual Petit Le Mans is under its third full course caution, for track repairs, in the fifth hour with 175 laps complete.
Chunks of asphalt have come up in Turn 3, prompting track officials to make repairs to the circuit, following another incident in the corner just moments prior to the yellow.
The No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP of Joao Barbosa leads the way following the latest round of pit stops, ahead of the sister No. 31 entry of Eric Curran and Max Angelelli in third in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP.
While Christina Nielsen and Alessandro Balzan have clinched the GTD title by reaching the three-hour mark, there’s been trouble for the championship-elect No. 8 Starworks Motorsport Oreca FLM09, which has gone behind the wall with brake issues.
PC is currently being led by the No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports entry of Tom Kimber-Smith.
The No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE of Toni Vilander leads GTLM, while the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 of Bret Curtis is out front in GTD with five hours and 45 minutes remaining.
