Trans-Am makes plans for hurricane

Hurricane Matthew is NOT expected to make a direct hit to the state of Florida.

However, Trans Am Race Company and the Homestead-Miami Speedway are taking precautions for what is anticipated to be tropical storm conditions in the LOCAL area on Thursday late evening/Friday morning.

Team haulers will be allowed access to the Speedway infield today (Oct. 5) up to midnight; This is a drop off only opportunity.

Team haulers will be allowed access to the Speedway infield tomorrow (Oct. 6), up to 10 pm. Same thing… Drop off only…

“Official" paddock load in is moving to Friday, Oct. 7, 8 am-6 pm. The start time is subject to the winds being less than 50 mph. If winds are above 50 mph at 8 am, load in activities will be delayed until conditions improve.

For all teams that did get parked early, you will move into your actual paddock spot when paddock load in commences.

The test day, which was scheduled for Friday, has been cancelled. Test Day entry fees will be refunded.

No changes are anticipated to the Saturday/Sunday schedule, and as the storm moves north, the weather in Homestead is likely to be mild and rain free (for Sunday's races).

Be assured that Homestead – Miami Speedway, the City of Homestead and the Trans Am Race Company are monitoring the situation on an on-going basis, and any changes will be communicated by e-blast and posted on the Trans Am website.
