Atlanta Motor Speedway opens campground for hurricane evacuees
Atlanta Motor Speedway has opened its Family Campgrounds located on the grounds of the 1.5-mile facility for Hurricane Matthew evacuees, free of charge.
The Family Campground, located in front of the frontstretch on the property, can hold thousands of campers and RV's. The speedway will also open the campground bathhouse and restroom facilities, allowing access to showers for evacuees.
Hurricane Matthew, a dangerous and powerful Category Four storm with winds up to 125 mph, is expected to make landfall along the Florida coast on Friday before sliding north along the coasts of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. The governors of all four states have encourage everyone living near the coastal areas to evacuate ahead of the storm.
