Utah and Sonoma confirmed for 2017 PWC tentative schedule

The Pirelli World Challenge will return to Utah Motorsports Campus and Sonoma Raceway next year, as the final two confirmed events on the 2017 schedule reports Sportscar365.

Series President and CEO Greg Gill made the announcement during Sunday evening’s championship awards banquet, which firms up the ten locations the sprint-race series will visit next year.

The date for the Utah event is yet to be announced but is understood to either be the second or third weekend in August, with Sonoma set to serve as the season finale for the GT Championship on Sept. 15-17, alongside IndyCar.

Gill said the championship structure, particularly the number of Sprint and SprintX races for next year, is still being determined and will seek additional competitor feedback before confirming.

The series also confirmed during the banquet that five races will be televised live on CBS Sports Network next year, an increase from the live telecast of the Long Beach GT/GTA race this season.
